Association of Africa Universities (AAU) and Partners Expand the Open Science and Research Integrity Dialogue to Western Africa

16 September 2024 Categories: News

The Association of African Universities (AAU), in partnership with Digital Science, Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa), PLOS, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Dimensions, and CARLIGH is pleased to announce the next installment in our series of regional Open Science and Research Integrity Dialogues making its debut in Western Africa. This event, scheduled for October 16-17, 2024, from 9:00 AM GMT in a blended format at the AAU Headquarters, builds upon the success of our previous dialogues held in Southern, Eastern, and Northern Africa, continuing our continent-wide initiative to advance open science and research integrity.

This dialogue, under the theme “Actionable Next Steps on Implementation for Higher Education Institutes and Stakeholders,” aims to translate open science principles and research integrity into tangible actions within our academic institutions. We recognize the unique challenges and opportunities present in the Western African context and seek to address them directly.

This event will bring together key figures in higher education, including Vice-Chancellors, research directors, librarians, and members of ethics review boards. Building on insights from our previous regional dialogues, we’ll focus on practical implementation strategies, from developing open access policies to establishing FAIR data practices and fostering a culture of research integrity.

We invite all relevant stakeholders to join us in this important conversation. This event promises to be a collaborative environment where experiences are shared, challenges are addressed, and region-specific solutions are developed.

Your participation will be vital in advancing both open science and research integrity across Africa.
