Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital is a not-for-profit Children’s Hospital established in 1947. Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital is the most established paediatric hospital in Eastern and Central Africa, providing healthcare to children in Kenya as well as those referred from neighboring countries.

We are working with the research unit and guiding them in setting systems that can support them in effective research information management and visibility.

Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa ) was invited as technical advisors to guide the
Government of Malawi, through the National Commission of Science and Technology on
how to use Scientometrics to improve their research input and visibility. The technical
assistance visit was organized by the Southern African Research & Innovation Management
Association (SARIMA).

TCC Africa guided the policymakers and higher education stakeholders on how open access data
can support the academic and research community in Malawi. Open access
from Dimensions was provided to support the research community.
The NCST were also guided on; how to apply big research data to their daily use
either as a researcher, institute or a policymaker as well as decisions one needs to make in
creating collaborations. Highlights of the workshop can be found in this video.

We are collaborating with the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) to raise awareness about the adoption of Open Science practices among institutional leaders in order to gain buy-in for the creation of an Institutional Open Science mandate.
