On November 6, 2024, the Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa) and M.P. Shah Hospital entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen research support systems and enhance research output at the hospital.

M.P. Shah Hospital, one of Kenya’s premier healthcare institutions located in Parklands Area in Nairobi, is dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care and advancing healthcare through research and innovation. Known for its focus on community health and clinical research, this partnership serves as a crucial step in enhancing its research support infrastructure and output.

Based at the University of Nairobi’s Chiromo Campus, TCC Africa is renowned for its role in empowering researchers and institutions across Africa to communicate science effectively and manage research impact. Through this partnership, TCC Africa will provide specialized training, foster strategic partnerships, and establish a framework for evaluating research impact —all aimed at strengthening the hospital’s research management capacity and ensuring its initiatives contribute meaningfully to medical advancements and healthcare improvements across the region.

“We are excited to partner with MP Shah Hospital to strengthen their research capabilities and support their mission of advancing medical research and innovation,” remarked Ms. Joy Owango, the Executive Director at TCC Africa. “This partnership aligns with our commitment to empowering African institutions to achieve their research goals and contribute to the continent’s scientific progress.”

“MP Shah Hospital is glad to partner with TCC Africa to increase access and affordability; and improve outcomes of healthcare through research. We recognize the increased burden of disease in the Kenyan population. Non communicable diseases, maternal and child health conditions; and paediatric cancers continue to skew the disability index and productivity of the affected. Therefore, this collaboration is timely in advancing the legacy of care and supporting Kenyans to access preventive and curative care for a more productive nation.” remarked Dr. Toseef Din, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at MP Shah Hospital.

This partnership between TCC Africa and MP Shah Hospital is set to create a sustainable research ecosystem, with a focus on generating insights that will drive medical progress and improve patient outcomes both locally and regionally.
